Role Specification
Role Purpose:
The Territory Sales Representative is responsible for maintaining and developing their own customer portfolio, focusing on account management, to capitalize on customer relationships, follow up on leads, and maximize growth potential of all products with our commercial partners and contractors.
Area of Responsibility:
1. Develop strong trading relationships with existing customers, closely monitoring their performance and buying behavior.
2. Maximize sales and profit by showcasing product knowledge and providing solutions to technical customer issues.
3. Constantly monitor market activity to stay ahead of industry trends.
4. Develop the product portfolio within your territory to add value.
5. Build a target list of prospects to grow market share.
6. Conduct regular branch reviews with merchant partners to develop product range and knowledge.
7. Scope, target, and manage projects within your territory to ensure a healthy pipeline.
8. Develop relationships with key construction contractors, specifiers, and M&E consultants, providing expert advice.
9. Balance merchant partners and contractors to maximize Push/Pull strategies.
10. Analyze sales data using tools like Excel, QlikView, and Access.
11. Operate effectively at various levels, from C-suite to site.
12. Become an expert in the product range of the group.
13. Report regularly to the sales manager on area trends.
14. Participate actively in sales meetings and marketing events.
15. Liaise with marketing on promotions and collateral.
16. Promote promotions and projects aligned with marketing strategies.
17. Attend training to develop relevant skills.
Scale and Territory Indicators:
* Manage a customer ledger of active trading accounts within the territory.
* Represent the product range, focusing on priority lines.
Person Specification:
* Significant experience in construction industry solution selling.
* Effective communication of concepts, promotions, and products using various media.
* Market awareness of the industry.
* Ability to listen and resolve customer concerns professionally.
* Eligible to work in ROI.
* Hold a full, clean driving license.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable to all levels.
* Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
Desirable Criteria:
* Knowledge of products and services.
* Understanding of discount structures and promotional plans.
* Degree in Business or Engineering.
