Nurse, Extended Day Program - *******
Extended Day is a before and after school program serving students enrolled in the Acton-Boxborough Elementary Schools.
Daily hours are from 7:00-8:35 AM, M-F; 3:00-6:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and 12:30-6:00 PM on Wednesday.
The position may be split at the discretion of the Director- Could be two part time positons or one full time
Extended Day is open on all school days, following the Acton-Boxborough Regional School District calendar.
This position will begin on August 19th, **** to connect with families and collect medications and plans for the upcoming school year.
Qualifications:
Licensure to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts
Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification
Team-oriented with demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated experience in community health and student health, particularly with K-6 students with disabilities or medical conditions.
Background in camps, out-of-school time programs, and/or special education is preferred.
Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Valid driver's license and willingness to use personal vehicle to travel to other locations within the district as needed.
Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with district policy.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to the Extended Day Director, in consultation with the Community Ed Director and Director of Nursing Services as needed
General and Performance Responsibilities:
Provide first aid and emergency care, administer medication and/or treatment, when necessary.
Provide on-site health care and supervision to students with medical needs.
Report incidents promptly.
Complete appropriate injury and incident reports, and log readings/medication administered.
Collaborate with the Extended Day team regarding other students with medical conditions within the program.
Answer medical questions by phone from site coordinators at all program locations, traveling to that location in a timely fashion if needed.
Maintain communication with parents, site coordinators, program administrators, and school nursing staff regarding student health concerns.
Provide EpiPen and other emergency training for program staff.
Travel on field trips as needed.
Participate in relevant staff meetings, professional development days, and program events.
Regularly review student's medication and paperwork, ensuring all information is up-to-date
Other duties as requested by the Program Director
Salary:
$************* per hour based on education and experience.
Depending on hours worked perweek, position may be benefits-eligible.
