Johnson Hana is seeking to hire a Legal Consultant for an upcoming project. This project will be 14 months in length and there is a strong potential for the projects to be extended beyond this timeframe. We can offer part-time or full time hours for this projects.
Project Responsibilities & Requirements.
* Work closely and proactively with the lead solicitor in the Planning and Environmental Law team, the wider Planning and Environment team, and internal senior stakeholders to deliver high-quality, timely advice on major strategic infrastructure projects.
* Lead planning hearings and support planning and environmental litigation, including briefing and attending counsel, engaging with external law firms, and advising on case strategy.
* Embed with internal project teams as part of the legal function to provide hands-on legal support on specific projects.
* Collaborate with external solicitor firms on the legal panel and liaise with legal teams of joint venture partners.
* Draft specialist legal advice and policy documents, and review and update existing policies in the planning and environmental law space.
Additional Requirements:
* Experience in advising on planning applications and associated environmental reports (for instance, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIA) and Natura Impact Statements)
* Litigation experience in defending /taking challenges to planning permissions where EIA and Habitat related issues are raised.
* Experience in challenges to planning applications and / or knowledge of the Planning and Development Act is required.
* Planning and Environmental law experience.
* Ability to work with a variety of teams and stakeholders.
* Strong organizational skills and good attention to detail
