About Us

UNSW Law & Justice is the top-ranking law faculty in Australia and a global leader in law and criminology education and research. The School of Global & Public Law focuses on international and comparative law, and broad Australian public law—constitutional and administrative law.


Role Purpose and Focus

The Nuclear Innovation Centre and the Faculty of Law & Justice seek to appoint a three-year Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research and build capacity on nuclear law at UNSW. The Fellow will work across the Faculty and the Centre to undertake world-class research, develop cross-disciplinary curriculum, and contribute to UNSW’s leadership in ethical development of nuclear energy. The Fellow will be connected with the Nuclear Innovation Centre and the School of Global & Public Law, reporting to Professor Lucas Lixinski (Law & Justice) with a dotted line to Associate Professor Edward Obbard (Nuclear Innovation Centre). Collaboration with Professor Natalie Klein and Adjunct Associate Professor Helen Cook is expected.


Skills & Experiences (Selection Criteria)

* A PhD in nuclear law, international institutional law, law of the sea, general international law, or related to nuclear law.
* Proven track record of, or potential for, cross-disciplinary collaboration.
* Ability to undertake high-quality academic research with limited supervision.
* Track record of research outputs, publications and conference presentations.
* Potential to speak at high-quality scholarly meetings and conferences.
* Ability to work in a team and build effective relationships.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
* Ability to maintain governance framework for research activities, including ethics approval and reporting.
* Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
* Understanding of UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, plus relevant policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health & safety responsibilities and commitment to training.
