Automation Technician
The role of a Trainee Automation Engineer is to provide electrical and automation maintenance support to ensure equipment asset performance is maximized. Key tasks include supporting the Automation Engineer, maintaining and updating electrical and automation system drawings, completing plant and equipment fault diagnosis, repair and maintenance, troubleshooting PLCs and programming upgrade changes for machinery, and developing preventative maintenance routines across the site.
Main Responsibilities:
* Maintenance and repair of electrical and automation systems
* Supporting the Automation Engineer in completing delegated tasks
* Maintaining and updating electrical and automation system drawings
* Completing plant and equipment fault diagnosis, repair and maintenance
* Troubleshooting PLCs and programming upgrade changes for machinery
* Developing preventative maintenance routines across the site
* Assisting maintenance team and contractors on-site in routine overhauls, servicing, maintenance and breakdowns
Requirements:
* Trade qualifications with minimum 3-5 years experience in automation maintenance or a 3rd Level qualification in automation systems, related engineering field or mechatronics
* Strong electrical and electronic repair and diagnostic skills
* Experience in PLC fault finding and repair
* Experience with high volume industrial equipment
* Good computer skills
