Position Title: Solar Design Engineer
* Salary: Negotiable based on relevant experience
* Start Date: ASAP
* Location: Hybrid model – work from Guinness Enterprise Centre, Dublin 8, when required, otherwise remote
* Contract Type: Full-time
* Working Hours: Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities:
* Identify and mitigate project risks
* Define project objectives, scope, deliverables, and milestones
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of company technologies and solutions
* Support relationship building with clients, suppliers, and contractors
* Maintain good stakeholder relationships
* Implement best practice engineering methods
* Provide technical guidance to engineering staff and management
* Develop and assist in energy project design, costing, and optimization
* Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for bespoke energy solutions
* Perform energy evaluations and analyses with appropriate tools
* Engage in business development and project delivery discussions
* Research emerging energy technologies and market trends
* Prepare project reports and proposals
* Design solar farms, including layout, mounting systems, wiring, and grid connection
* Maintain knowledge of Irish permitting systems
* Conduct site visits
* Prepare design documentation using CAD tools (PVCase, AutoCAD, BIM)
* Ensure designs meet interconnection and operational requirements
* Stay updated on industry standards and regulations
Qualifications and experience:
* 10+ years experience preferred
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, BIM
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Proven self-starter and team leader
* Desire to contribute to decarbonisation and renewable energy transition
* Track record of delivering solar projects on time and to high standards
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
* Project Management qualification (advantage)
* Valid Full Driver’s License (advantage)
* Entitled to work in Ireland
