We are seeking an experienced Lead Power Electronics Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team in Cork. This is a key technical leadership role focused on the design and development of advanced DC/DC and AC/DC power supplies for high-reliability applications across demanding environments.You will play a central role in driving innovation, leading a small team of engineers, and delivering robust, high-performance power conversion solutions from concept through to production.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of DC/DC and AC/DC power supplies, from initial concept through to production releaseTake ownership of high-reliability designs, ensuring performance, efficiency, and robustness in demanding applicationsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to a small team of power electronics engineersDrive architecture decisions, including topology selection (e.g. Flyback, LLC, Full-Bridge, PFC)Conduct design reviews, ensuring best practices in power electronics design and developmentOversee simulation and modelling using tools such as SPICE, PLECS, or MATLAB/SimulinkLead debugging, testing, and validation, including thermal, EMI/EMC, and reliability testingWork closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical, systems, and manufacturingSupport design for manufacture (DFM) and ensure smooth transition to productionEnsure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulationsRequired Experience & SkillsProven experience in power electronics design, with a strong focus on DC/DC and AC/DC convertersStrong understanding of key topologies such as Buck, Boost, Flyback, LLC, and Full-BridgeExperience designing for high-reliability applications (e.g. industrial, aerospace, medical, defence, or similar)Solid knowledge of analogue circuit design, control loops, and compensation techniquesHands-on experience with power semiconductor devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC/GaN desirable)Experience with simulation tools such as SPICE, PLECS, Simetrix, or MATLAB/SimulinkStrong understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation, magnetics design, and thermal managementExperience with PCB design and layout for power electronicsDemonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor engineersExperience with high-voltage or high-power systemsKnowledge of relevant standards (e.g. IEC, UL)Previous experience in a technical leadership or lead roleExposure to high-frequency SMPS designWhy Join?Opportunity to take a lead role in cutting-edge power electronics developmentWork on high-reliability, mission-critical applicationsJoin a collaborative and technically strong engineering environmentClear scope for technical ownership and career progression
