Job Title: Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist
The role of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist is a crucial one in the planning and development of renewable energy projects. This position requires an individual with strong leadership skills, expertise in EIA processes, and a deep understanding of Irish legislation and planning procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the EIA process for large-scale renewable energy developments
* Deliver high-quality Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and Appropriate Assessments/Natura Impact Statements
* Provide environmental advice to support planning strategy and ensure legislative compliance
* Monitor changes in environmental and planning legislation, policies, and local authority plans
* Support stakeholder engagement, including consultation with local communities and statutory bodies
* Manage procurement and coordination of external environmental consultants
* Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards
* Mentor junior staff in EIA and AA processes
* Contribute to team performance and continuous improvement efforts
Requirements:
* Honours Degree (Level 8 NFQ) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar
* At least 5 years of experience in leading the preparation of EIAR and AA/NIS for large-scale infrastructure projects
* Strong understanding of Irish EIA legislation and planning processes
* Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams on EIA projects
* Experience with renewable energy or SID projects (desirable)
* Postgraduate qualification and technical expertise in a relevant EIA discipline (e.g., ecology, air, noise) are advantageous
