Role Purpose: As part of our growth strategy, we are recruiting an experienced Employee Relations/Industrial Relations Practitioner to join our consulting team. This senior role involves using substantial HR, project, and stakeholder management experience to design and deliver solutions for both retained and consultancy clients, aligned with pre-agreed proposals, budgets, and timelines.

Working within an experienced team, the Senior ER/IR Consultant will manage and lead on complex issues, supporting our extensive client base with employee and industrial relations advice across key sectors.

Job Responsibilities

Consulting Delivery – 85% of time

In this role, the Senior ER/IR Consultant will design and deliver employee and industrial relations consultancy based on our principles of W@owee.

* Act as a subject matter expert to deliver effective ER/IR support to a portfolio of clients across various sectors, providing technical expertise on HR and employment issues.
* Lead and support external stakeholders in organizational change programmes, including restructures, redundancies, and TUPE.
* Lead complex workplace investigations, hearings, and appeals involving disciplinary, grievance, bullying, harassment, and sexual harassment issues.
* Maintain a robust documentation system to ensure data accuracy, risk assessments, client advice, and expectations are managed and delivered effectively.
* Prepare reports to ensure compliance and support the resolution of ER/IR issues.
* Facilitate mediation and conflict resolution internally.
* Represent clients at third parties such as the Workplace Relations Commission and Labour Court, providing effective support under employment legislation.
* Manage industrial relations disputes with stakeholders and external agencies.
* Support the development and implementation of ER strategies to enhance organizational capability in managing employee relations issues.
* Provide proactive ER/IR guidance and support, managing complex issues.
* Support colleagues across ER/IR interventions as a team member.
* Proactively manage relationships to positively impact client experience.

Stakeholder Engagement

* Present and facilitate discussions with senior stakeholders on projects, articulating approaches, risks, benefits, and ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and legislative requirements.
* Create and present end-of-project results and future options.
* Facilitate team sessions on topics like employee engagement survey results and focus groups.
* Deliver HR training programmes on employment law, disciplinary procedures, performance management, and conflict resolution.
* Engage and influence senior managers, building strong relationships.

Supporting Growth & Development – 15% of time

This role contributes to business development and team professional growth by providing expert responses to client queries and innovating service offerings.

* Manage billing cycles ensuring client satisfaction.

* Maintain high standards of work accuracy, validity, completeness, and timeliness.
* Attend internal team meetings.
* Support team members with HR challenges in an outcome-focused manner.
* Assist in delivering internal HR training programmes.

Business Development

* Advise potential clients on HR issues and support proposal development.
* Work with leadership and business development teams to identify HR and employment law needs.
* Propose innovations to improve HR and employment law services.
* Participate in HR and employment law events to build relationships and deliver on annual plans.

Candidate Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Qualifications

* Degree or master's in HR, Law, or related discipline
* CIPD qualification
* Post-graduate qualifications in Employment Law, Conflict Resolution, or an MBA are desirable

Experience

* Minimum 10 years in HR, employee relations, or IR within a busy ER/IR/legal environment or HR consulting
* Experience with a broad range of HR issues and stakeholder workshops
* Extensive knowledge of Irish employment law, HR, ER, and IR practices
* Strong project and client management skills
* Proven success in facilitating change, problem-solving, and analytical skills
* Excellent relationship management and communication skills
* Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
