We are seeking a skilled OpenSearch Backend Engineer to design, manage, and maintain our highly available OpenSearch clusters. This role will ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of our search and analytics infrastructure, which is mission-critical to the company's data and application ecosystem.
Job Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain eBay's OpenSearch clusters to ensure high availability, scalability, and stability.
Develop and implement ecosystem tools that provide self-service capabilities and automation, improving efficiency for both administrators and customer teams.
Proactively troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in large-scale, high-traffic OpenSearch clusters to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Estimate engineering efforts, plan implementations, and rollout system changes.
Develop industry and product technical expertise.
Proactively participate in maintaining team standards and best practices
Job Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent).
5+ years' work experience in Java software development area with at least 2+ years' experience in OpenSearch/ElasticSearch
Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
Excellent problem-solving skills, good at triaging and resolving critical tech issues without supervision.
Expertise required in object-oriented design methodology and application development in Java
Hands-on experience with ELKB (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana and Beats) technical stack (or OpenSearch stack).
Understanding of Elasticsearch/OpenSearch cluster architecture, sharding, indexing, replication, and query optimization.
Experience with ElasticSearch/OpenSearch core or Lucene is a plus.
Skills in React and NodeJS will be a big plus.
Proven result-oriented individual with delivery focus in a high velocity, high quality environment.
Strong communication skills in oral and written English.
Working experience in a multi-national company is a plus.
