On behalf of our client, a leading healthcare company, we are currently recruiting for a Renal Staff Nurse for Wexford Town. This is a permanent role. This is a 37.5 hour week, shifts over Mon-Sat, rotated.
Will work as part of a Dialysis Team and will take personal responsibility and accountability for ensuring that policies and procedures are known and followed and will ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the advisory guidelines and practices set out in Irish National Nursing Council (INNC).
Key roles and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
ØOrganise and participate in the delivery of high standards of evidence based nursing care.
ØTake regular responsibility to carry out required planned, direct patient care to a high standard without direct supervision in accordance with established nursing procedures and policies.
ØTo report to the appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team any significant changes in a patient's condition or situation.
ØTo contribute towards health promotion for all patients by providing education, support and advice, as necessary. Ensure referral to appropriate professionals or agencies as required.
ØEscort patients who require help to their transport.
ØTo take personal responsibility for ensuring that patients are treated with courtesy at all times, the individual needs of patients are respected and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
ØTo be responsible for ensuring provision of a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues.
ØEnsure the readiness for use of special equipment and the availability of nursing supplies in conjunction with the senior ward nurses.
ØReport to nurse in charge/line manager all complaints, incidents or accidents involving self, staff, patients, visitors and complete relevant documentation according to clinic procedure.
ØTo have detailed knowledge of Manual handling regulations particularly with regards to the moving and handling of patients. To be responsible for ensuring that assessment of patient's manual handling needs are carried out.
Skills & Experience Requirements:
ØRegistered Nurse with current INMB PIN to practice.
ØCompletion of training for additional clinical skills required in the unit i.e. IV drug administration/cannulation & venipuncture.
ØEvidence of an ability to critically appraise and utilise research to maintain and improve patient care.
ØExcellent written and verbal skills –Must be fluent in English.
ØAbility to build good relationships with patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues by developing rapport, communicating clearly and accurately, active listening and the ability to empathise. The post-holder must have the ability to refer to senior staff as required.
ØAbility to recognise and diffuse potentially difficult situations in relation to patients, carers or members of the multidisciplinary team.
ØOrganisational skills for co-ordination and provision of care needs of patients using initiative, time management, leadership and problem solving skills.
ØAbility to work as part of a team.
ØAbility to provide verbal and generate and computer written reports on the patient's condition for nurses and professionally qualified workers.
ØDemonstrate teaching and presentation skills to enable active participation as a mentor for students and to promote an effective learning environment.
