Job Overview
Principal Engineer (or similar Infrastructure Engineer) – deliver and coordinate design packages on complex infrastructure programmes, lead technical design teams, and guide clients and stakeholders through technical and statutory processes.
Responsibilities
Deliver and coordinate design packages on complex infrastructure programmes.
Lead technical design teams from concept to construction on major transportation, bus infrastructure, and greenway projects.
Produce high‑quality deliverables that meet quality, time, and budget standards.
Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs (drainage, structures, environmental, etc.).
Work directly with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to guide them through technical challenges and statutory approvals.
Mentor junior engineers and apprentices.
Contribute commercial input to work‑winning.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
Chartered Engineer status or strong candidate demonstrating progression toward chartership.
Significant postgraduate experience in civil engineering, highways, rail, light rail, public transport or greenways/active travel.
Strong knowledge of UK and Irish design standards such as TII PMG, DMRB, LTN 1/24, NTA Cycle Design Manual.
Experience preparing contract documentation for major transport projects (NEC or Public Works).
Experience with statutory planning and design approvals and environmental impact assessment preparation.
Ability to manage and lead teams of varying sizes.
Commercial management experience of tasks and/or projects.
