Graduate Mechanical Engineer Industrial Mechanical Systems (Co. Westmeath) Our client, based in Co.
Westmeath, is a premier engineering firm whose products are utilised in major infrastructure, commercial, and industrial projects worldwide.
This is an entry-level role designed to provide a high-calibre engineering graduate with immediate exposure to the full product lifecycle, from initial CAD design to assembly and performance testing.
Core Responsibilities Working under the guidance of Senior Project and Design Engineers, you will support the following areas: Design & Drafting: Developing 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings for complex mechanical packages and integrated systems using CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
Technical Specification: Assisting in the selection of components, motors, and materials to meet specific client flow, pressure, and environmental requirements.
Testing & Validation: Participating in the performance testing of engineered systems in a dedicated test facility, collecting and analysing data to ensure compliance with international safety and quality standards.
Production Support: Acting as a technical link between the design office and the fabrication shop floor to resolve build-phase engineering queries.
Documentation: Managing the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical submittals, and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
Candidate Profile Education: A Level 8 Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling (SolidWorks experience is a distinct advantage).
Knowledge: A strong academic foundation in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and mechanical design.
Aptitude: A proactive, hands-on mindset with a keen interest in how complex mechanical systems are manufactured and tested.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary engineering and production team.
Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: €35,000 €40,000 per annum (Negotiable based on internship experience or final year project relevance).
