ESB Networks Demand Flexibility Product Procurement Consultation
The CRU has published a Decision Paper on the ESB Networks DAC (ESB Networks) Demand Flexibility Product Procurement Recommendation, following further consultation on the Demand Flexibility Product that closed 9th December 2024.
In this decision, the CRU has approved ESB Networks' recommendation on product arrangements for the up to 500 MW of medium-term flexibility services with the objective of congestion management on the distribution network. It is envisaged this procurement will be focused on grid locations with clear congestion needs, allowing for increased demand and potentially reducing renewable curtailment. This decision marks a pivotal action by ESB Networks in contributing to strategic targets in the Climate Action Plan and represents some of the earliest delivery of objectives in the National Energy Demand Strategy.
In addition to the publication of the CRU's Decision Paper, the CRU is also publishing ESB Networks' Recommendation Paper, and Baringa's Recommendation Paper.
