The Irish Green Building Council is seeking a Charity trustee with a proven record in finance/accountancy practice to join the board of trustees. He/she should be a qualified accountant, (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least five years’ experience. Expertise in areas that relate to the design, construction of the built environment would be an advantage but is not essential. Experience in financial management and strategic planning would also be of benefit. If you have experience in this area and want to play a key role in participating in board, we’re keen to hear from you.
General Trustee duties of a Charity Trustee:
Complying with the IGBC’s governing documentEnsuring the IGBC is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefitActing in the best interest of the charityActing with Reasonable Care and SkillManaging the IGBC’s assets
Responsibilities of a Financial Charity Trustee include the following:
Providing input into the strategic direction, contributing with insight, oversight, and experience of strategy formulation in other sectors.Having a deep insight into all financial policies and controls and proposing recommendations for change if applicable.Providing oversight of compliance and risk management in the organisation.Advising the Board on financial implications of proposals, cash flow, etc,Providing business advice on the development of the organisation.
Board Meetings:
There are 6-7 board meetings a year. Board Meetings are held in the offices of Irish Green Building Council, The Masonry, 151 Thomas Street, Dublin D08 PY5E.
Subcommittees:
There are currently two sub-committees of the Board. These are Finance and Governance and Risk. The Financial Trustee will be expected to be a member of the Finance Sub-committee meetings are generally online.
