SimoTech is seeking a VPE Automation Engineer to join our team to work on a high-impact, multi-million-euro life sciences expansion project at a leading manufacturing facility in Cork.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide automation guidance and expertise to a multi-disciplinary project team executing projects on PLC-controlled process equipment, including QA, engineering, operations, and IT to ensure seamless automation delivery and support.
* Collaborate with and manage OEM vendors to ensure control systems meet project specifications and industry standards.
* Review and approve vendor-supplied control system documentation, including Functional Design Specifications, Hardware Design Specifications, Software Development Specifications, and FAT/SAT protocols.
* Generate engineering documentation such as User Requirement Specifications, Functional Design Specifications, Scope of Work.
* Support the generation of project risk assessments and standard operating procedure updates based on project scope.
* Support system integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of vendor PLC/SCADA systems within GMP-regulated environments.
* Apply GAMP principles throughout the system development life cycle, including validation documentation.
Qualifications
* A minimum of 5 years' automation experience working in the Life Sciences industries.
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience using Siemens and/or Rockwell PLC and associated hardware and applications.
* Strong development, configuration, and test experience in PLC S7-1500 systems to support vendor package equipment integration.
* Knowledge of SCADA WinCC Unified.
* Knowledge of the GAMP software development lifecycle and ANSI/ISA-S88 industry standards.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills are required.
* The ability to work well with diverse, multi-disciplined teams.
