Senior Financial Controller
Reporting to: Finance Director / Chief Financial Officer
Location: South Country Dublin/North County Wicklow (Hybrid)

Role Purpose
The Senior Financial Controller will take full ownership of the Group's financial control environment, reporting framework, and operational finance leadership.
Acting as a key strategic partner to the FD/CFO, this role is accountable for ensuring the financial integrity, governance, and scalability of a multi‑entity, project‑driven construction group undergoing continued growth and organisational evolution.
This is a senior leadership role requiring a blend of technical excellence, commercial acumen, and the ability to shape the finance agenda.
The Senior Financial Controller will drive high performance across the finance team, strengthen financial insight for the business, and ensure the Finance function is robust, future‑ready, and aligned to organisational strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Control & Reporting
Lead the delivery of accurate, timely and insightful monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting across all entities.
Strengthen the Group's financial control environment, ensuring rigorous oversight of general ledger integrity, balance sheet governance, and month‑end close discipline.
Own the Group's cashflow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital management, ensuring proactive visibility for the FD/CFO and senior leadership.
Deliver enhanced variance analysis, trend reporting, and meaningful financial insights that challenge assumptions and support strategic decision‑making.
Contribute to the development of medium‑term financial plans and support scenario modelling for investment, growth, and operational planning.
Finance Team Leadership & People Development
Lead, mentor, and elevate the performance of the finance team, ensuring clear accountability, strengthened capability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Work closely with the FD/CFO to shape team structure, succession planning, and resource allocation as the business scales.
Champion best‑in‑class finance processes and KPIs, building a high‑performing function aligned to group objectives.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, and development of finance team members as the business grows.
Operational & Commercial Partnership
Act as a senior finance partner to Operations and Commercial teams, providing challenge, support, and insight to drive margin performance and project profitability.
Oversee robust project financial management, including cost‑to‑complete assessments, WIP analysis, margin forecasting, and commercial risk identification.
Support strategic commercial decisions, tender analysis, pricing reviews, and major project evaluations with sophisticated financial modelling and scenario analysis.
Strengthen financial discipline across project teams through improved processes, education, and collaboration.
Statutory, Audit & Compliance
Ensure full compliance across statutory reporting, VAT, payroll taxes, construction sector regulations, and multi‑jurisdictional requirements.
Lead the preparation of audit files, coordinate with external auditors, and ensure timely delivery of all statutory accounts and regulatory filings.
Proactively manage tax compliance and planning in conjunction with external advisors.
Maintain strong internal controls, risk management processes, and governance frameworks across all entities.
Systems, Processes & Continuous Improvement
Partner with the FD/CFO to enhance financial systems, reporting tools, and data integrity across the Group.
Lead process standardisation and automation initiatives, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and accuracy as the business continues to expand.
Take ownership of driving digitally enabled finance processes, leveraging systems (including Integrity Evolution or similar) to improve transparency and performance.
Introduce strengthened reporting frameworks to support real‑time insights and future organisational needs.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with demonstrated depth of experience operating at senior finance level, with a strong track record of delivering financial control, reporting, and team leadership in a complex environment.
Demonstrated success in a senior Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller, or Senior Finance Manager role within a complex, operationally intensive environment.
Experience managing multi‑entity, multi‑jurisdiction, or project led organisations essential, construction or related sectors highly advantageous.
Proven track record in strengthening financial controls, leading finance teams, and supporting commercial and operational leaders.
Experience navigating scaling businesses and implementing improved systems and processes.
Skills & Competencies
