A leading global innovator in advanced semiconductor and wireless technologies is seeking a Senior Staff Emulation Engineer to join its growing engineering team in Cork. This is a high-impact role working at the forefront of complex SoC development and pre-silicon validation.
What You’ll Be Doing
Develop and deploy FPGA-based emulation solutions across industry-standard platforms such as prototyping systems and enterprise emulators.
Own and optimize emulation build flows, including synthesis, place & route, constraints definition, clocking strategies, and timing closure.
Drive system-level debugging using waveform analysis, instrumentation, and deep content-level investigation to support silicon bring-up.
Play a key role in enabling new emulation and prototyping environments, both hardware and software.
Work closely with cross-functional teams including design, validation, CAD, and software engineering across global locations.
Interface with EDA vendors and represent engineering efforts in technical discussions and reviews.
Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior team members.
What We’re Looking For
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Strong background in FPGA design, emulation, or verification with several years of hands-on experience.
Solid expertise in RTL design using SystemVerilog or similar HDL languages.
Experience working with modern FPGA architectures (e.g., Xilinx/AMD UltraScale families; Intel/Altera is beneficial).
Deep understanding of FPGA implementation flows and achieving timing closure.
Strong problem-solving ability with effective communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
Postgraduate qualification (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant technical field.
Extensive experience in pre-silicon environments such as emulation, prototyping, or silicon enablement.
Proven ability to define and scale emulation methodologies and debug flows.
Experience with SoC bring-up and low-level hardware/software debugging.
Familiarity with tools and techniques such as JTAG, kernel debugging, and digital debug methods.
Good understanding of CPU/SoC architecture, interconnects, and system-level design considerations.
Programming and scripting experience (C/C++, Python, TCL).
Track record of leading technical initiatives across distributed teams.
