As we continue our journey toward becoming Ireland’s most trusted and sustainable business, we have an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join our Insight and Innovation Team as a Concept Owner.
The purpose of this role is to deliver the Musgrave strategy through leading a pipeline of world‑class innovations which will drive new growth and new revenue for Musgrave in areas such as Health & Wellness, New Channels & Missions.
Using the Musgrave Innovation Framework, the Concept Owner will lead one or more innovation initiatives at any time. The role works with business units and teams across Musgrave, including International, and with third‑party providers and potential Musgrave acquisitions. The role is supported by a team of innovation leads who assist with the digital, product, marketing and commercial aspects of each initiative.
What you’ll be doing:
Area of Responsibility: Innovation portfolio and pipeline of innovation

Be a key contributor to the creation of Musgrave’s Innovation portfolio and pipeline of innovation initiatives by ensuring alignment with our long‑term strategy.
Collaborate with the Insights & Analytics teams to analyse data and relevant insights to identify and unlock opportunities and to refine & benchmark agreed innovation initiatives.
Size the potential opportunity of innovation initiatives, assessing customer desirability and feasibility of implementing the initiatives.
Lead the development of a customer proposition – succinctly describing the offer and benefits for the customers.
Lead the development of business models – outlining how the concept creates value for Musgrave, partners, customers, and suppliers.
Develop the commercial targets for Proof of Concept and phases of roll‑out, including initial P&L & business case to justify scale‑up and prepare successfully tested initiatives for handover, scaling, and rollout.
Lead the development of innovation initiatives to enable prototyping, initial testing, and customer validation.
Lead out on Health & Wellness strategy, ensuring it is clearly translated, embedded, and activated across core functions (Trading, Marketing, etc.) with a strong focus on driving consistent execution and measurable business impact.
Represent Health & Wellness within appropriate transformation workstreams, collaborating with strategy, analytics, and cross‑functional teams to shape initiatives, align with corporate priorities, and drive delivery through clear ownership, governance, and measurable outcomes.
Influence senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams to prioritise health‑driven opportunities, ensuring they are commercially viable and aligned with broader business and brand goals.
Act as the internal centre of excellence for health strategy, guiding teams on best practice in embedding health principles into category plans, innovation, and customer communications.
Lead the thought‑leadership agenda for Health & Wellness, identifying emerging consumer trends and translating them into differentiated customer‑facing concepts and business strategies.

Area of Responsibility: Commercial Delivery and Stakeholder Management

Commercial responsibility for delivering agreed P&L and commercial KPIs for all initiatives.
Engage and influence senior stakeholders and cross‑divisional colleagues on the strategy, vision, and opportunity of relevant innovation initiatives.
Partner and collaborate with teams across Musgrave to develop and drive innovation and to work with Musgrave retailer partners and independent customers to develop and test innovations.

Area of Responsibility: Creating the Best Team

Manage the team to ensure they have the skill sets, resources, and support needed to deliver in their roles and achieve objectives, and that they operate in a manner consistent with the ethos and values of the organisation.
Support people development as both team assets and Musgrave employees, facilitating career planning and transition across departments.

What we are looking for:

Hold a relevant 3rd level degree – Commercial or Marketing preferably.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a commercial role.
Strategic thinking, project management & planning skills.
Proven track record of working cross‑functionally and ability to manage and influence at all levels of the organisation.
Strong attention to detail, influencing, facilitation and collaboration skills.
Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset within a larger organisation.
High levels of commercial acumen, excellent customer relationship and negotiation skills.

Desirable

Qualification in Innovation/Innovation Strategy.
Design thinking trained.
Track record in innovation and/or creative marketing and brand development; experience in a “start‑up” environment desirable.
Proven ability to deliver to growth target, on time & on budget.
People development and mentoring skills.
