The UCC Cancer Trials Group (UCC CTG) is looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) to work in a growing team, supporting GI/GU Portfolio.
ABOUT UCC CTG: The UCC CTG is an HRB funded collaborative team which aims to bring together a dedicated team of cancer specialists and research staff across the south of Ireland.
The UCC CTG is part of Cancer Research@UCC, a translational cancer research centre with the designation of UCC Futures Strategic Research Centre within the College of Medicine & Health at University College Cork.
The UCC CTG group includes 3 cancer trials units at Cork University Hospital (Cancer Trials Cork@CUH), University Hospital Waterford and Bons Secours Hospital Cork).
For more information about the group, check our website: or our Twitter@UCCCancer Trials GI/GU/CNS/Melanoma CANCER PORTFOLIO AT CTC@CUH: The role will be based at Cancer Trials Cork Unit at CUH (CTC@CUH) in the Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, CNS & Melanoma (GI/GU/CNS/Melanoma) portfolio.
The CUH unit has been in operation for close to two decades, serving a geographically diverse population of 1.2 million in the South of Ireland.
This team has grown over the past few years, and continued growth is projected for years to come.
The CNM2 will work closely under the guidance of the portfolio leads (Dr.
Richard Bambury, Prof Derek Power & Prof Jack Gleeson), Director of Operations, and the nurse lead (CNM3) and team members.
As a summary, the role will include: Management of the clinical trials within the portfolio, including efforts to streamline processes, ensure the ongoing efficient distribution of nursing resources and to implement strategies to continually improve the efficacy of clinical trial conduct across the portfolio Oversight of research nurse activity within the portfolio Significant Clinical & management responsibilities Full oversight of clinical trial feasibility, submission, approval and recruitment Collaborate with Data Management Team in a day-to-day basis Work with The UCC Cancer Trials Group & Cancer Research@UCC team and research staff to ensure adherence to regulatory and governance frameworks Leadership and management of research nurses within the portfolio Cross divisional working with Research Nurse Team Leads from other portfolios Manage and negotiate research budgets including obtaining funding for retention and expansion of trial team This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, computer literacy, organization and an awareness of time management.
SUMMARY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/DESIRABLE (check the full job specs for more information): Registered Nurse qualification (Mandatory: RGN and BSc).
Oncology nursing experience or a related specialty is highly desirable.
Experience in clinical research, including knowledge of clinical trial protocols, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP), is an advantage.
Strong leadership, team coordination, and mentoring skills.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities to manage complex research portfolios.
Candidates without prior oncology experience will be considered if they demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to developing expertise in oncology research nursing.
