Competition Economist - competitive salary - Dublin, Ireland (hybrid)
Our client, an established economics consultancy with a strong European footprint, is looking to appoint a Manager. This position will be based in the firm's Dublin office, working as part of its expanding Competition practice. Known for its collaborative and open working culture, the firm partners with clients across industries and governments to deliver clear, data-driven insights that inform critical decisions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile cases involving mergers, antitrust investigations, litigation, and regulatory reviews.
As a Manager in the Competition team, you will take a leading role in delivering robust economic analysis, managing projects, and maintaining strong client relationships. You will work closely with legal counsel and corporate clients, providing strategic advice and technical support. Alongside project delivery, you will mentor colleagues, contribute to business development, and play an active role in shaping the long-term success of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading project teams to deliver timely, high-quality economic analysis
* Managing client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and strategic partner
* Developing and reviewing client submissions, expert reports, and presentations for regulators
* Providing intellectual leadership by shaping project scopes and ensuring outputs are credible and robust
* Contributing to business development and the growth of the competition practice
* Supporting the professional development of colleagues through mentoring and feedback
* Playing an active role in firm-wide initiatives, financial stewardship, and internal leadership
Key Skills
* Advanced degree in Economics (Master's or PhD preferred), with strong grounding in microeconomics and industrial organisation.
* Extensive experience in competition economics, gained in consultancy, a regulator, or government
* Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a track record of supporting teams
* Excellent project management and client engagement skills
* Ability to explain complex economic concepts in clear, accessible terms
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
* Collaborative mindset, with strong relationship-building skills and willingness to travel when required
