Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Service Manager – Solar Operations to lead and manage our nationwide solar service and maintenance operations.
The role is based in our Monaghan office and will involve overseeing the scheduling and coordination of service call-outs, managing a team of electrical engineers, and ensuring efficient and profitable delivery of solar maintenance and repair services across Ireland.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge in electrical/solar systems with excellent operational and leadership skills.
You will be responsible for managing field engineers, ensuring service standards are met, and maintaining control of your department's performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Service Operations Management
Oversee all solar service and maintenance call-outs nationwide.
Plan and manage the scheduling and dispatch of electrical engineers to service jobs.
Ensure service calls are prioritised effectively to meet customer SLAs and operational targets.
Monitor and improve response times, service quality, and job completion rates.
Manage and support a team of electrical engineers and field operatives.
Provide technical guidance and escalation support where required.
Conduct performance reviews, training, and development of team members.
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and company procedures.
Scheduling & Resource Planning
Manage engineer workloads, routes, and availability to maximise efficiency.
Coordinate emergency call-outs and urgent service requirements.
Work closely with operations and customer service teams to ensure clear communication with customers.
Compliance & Quality
Ensure all electrical works comply with national regulations and safety standards.
Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and reporting systems.
Ensure engineers follow correct procedures, risk assessments, and safety protocols.
Requirements
Electrical qualification (e.g., Electrician certification or equivalent).
Proven experience managing field service teams or engineering operatives.
Strong experience in scheduling and coordinating engineers or service teams.
Experience managing service operations within electrical, renewable energy, or construction sectors.
Demonstrated experience managing departmental budgets or P&L.
Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
Experience in the solar PV or renewable energy industry.
Knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, and battery storage.
Experience using service management or scheduling software.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent planning and scheduling capability.
Technical problem-solving ability.
Commercial awareness and financial management skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
