We are seeking high-calibre Graduate Health and Safety Officers to join our Health and Safety Team. This is an 18-month fixed-term, site-based graduate position.
Key responsibilities:
Typically, our Health & Safety Graduates will undertake and assist with the following duties:
1. Work as part of the Cairn Homes Construction management team to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
2. Seek to improve the standard of Health & Safety practically within the company management system and on specific sites.
3. Monitor and enforce the implementation of Cairn Homes Health & Safety Management System.
4. Identify site-specific hazards and ensure they are addressed in site documentation and practically on site.
5. Maintain clear communication lines with the H&S Manager.
6. Ensure site folders and statutory records are maintained.
7. Enforce site rules among all contractors.
8. Assist site management in complying with statutory H&S requirements.
9. Support the Health & Safety Manager in developing and implementing risk assessments and safety improvements.
10. Assist site management in contractor compliance on Cairn Homes sites.
11. Coordinate safe systems of work for contractors in collaboration with H&S Manager and site management.
12. Enforce site-specific disciplinary procedures.
13. Conduct H&S audits and address non-conformances with site management and contractors.
14. Contribute to accident and incident investigations.
15. Participate in Toolbox talks, discussions, and delivery.
The candidate:
1. Holds a 3rd Level Qualification in Health & Safety.
2. Relevant work experience is desirable.
3. Willing to attend training and develop relevant skills and knowledge.
4. Possesses strong analytical skills and the ability to present findings.
5. Has good spoken and written communication skills.
6. Methodical, detail-oriented, and accurate.
7. Ability to work well with people at all levels and in a team environment.
8. Self-motivated with the initiative to work independently.
9. Capable of coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Willing to accept responsibility for assigned tasks.
