EPS Group has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our Operations team as a part-time Laboratory Process Technician. The position is based at the Ennis Drinking Water Treatment Plant.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, flexible, and a self-starter capable of managing their time effectively. Good communication skills and a strong command of English are essential, both face-to-face and over the phone, at all levels within the company, with clients, and statutory bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform mechanical and electrical works.
2. Monitor processes, complete record sheets, and collect process samples.
3. Conduct laboratory tests including BOD, COD, suspended solids, turbidity, and other standard water and wastewater analyses.
4. Engage in process control, monitoring, and basic mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs.
5. Analyze data and prepare technical reports.
6. Ensure compliance with contractual and water discharge license emission limits, as well as environmental monitoring such as odour and noise.
7. Maintain analysis schedules, liaising with site operators and external laboratories.
8. Order equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
9. Perform heavy manual work as required.
10. Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
11. Be flexible with working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
12. Participate in a regular standby and call-out rota.
Key Competencies and Skills:
1. Background in laboratory testing.
2. Experience in drinking water and wastewater processes.
3. Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and maintain high standards.
4. Advanced PC skills, such as Excel and Word.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Full clean driving license.
7. Experience with jar testing.
Qualifications:
1. At least three years of experience in a process industry, ideally with a background in drinking water and wastewater treatment.
2. Experience with wet chemistry analytical techniques, including tests for suspended solids, dry solids, colour, turbidity, and using test kits like Hach.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
4. Third-level qualification in environmental science, chemistry, or a related field.
