Overview The person appointed to this post will work in the Post Natal Hub and/or Pelvic Health/Ambulatory Gynaecology hub based out of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (OLOLH) which operates in conjunction with the overall Gynaecology service. The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist will work as part of the physiotherapy team and Obstetrics/Gynaecology and relevant consultant led MDT services in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and/or in the community based Post Natal Hub. One aim of this post is to lead and develop the Pelvic Health and Continence Service and to support the Obstetrics/Gynaecology and Urology and relevant services in OLOLH. This is a new funded post vital for the provision of the newly approved postnatal hub providing outreach services from Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital to the region. The hubs are designed to place women's needs at the forefront, offering targeted multidisciplinary supports to women and their babies in the postnatal period. The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist will be an integral part of this team delivering highly specialised physiotherapy care to women across multiple sites in the region (likely sites in Co. Louth, Co. Meath & Co. Monaghan) during that important postnatal period which will help to prevent acute issues becoming chronic. They will be a core member of the MDT and work to meet KPI's, report statistics and work to develop the service regionally participating in Quality Improvement initiatives as required Duties include: Leadership, development and management of gynaecology & obstetric physiotherapy care including but not limited to incontinence, tears, pelvic pain and pelvic organ prolapse. Development of a Post Natal Hub service for the Region in conjunction with Midwifery and Consultants. Enhance clinical care pathways to optimise health (continence, oncology, obstetrics, gynaecology, urology colorectal) Provision of specialist physiotherapy care to complex patients referred to the physiotherapy department. Undertake a clinical caseload within the physiotherapy department and/or Post Natal hub (regional sites). Service development specific to the Pelvic Health service, specifically around improving the clinical care pathway for patients, facilitating patient's self-management and discharge from the service. Involvement in research and audit activities. Acting as an information resource for colleagues locally, regionally or nationally. The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist Pelvic Health will provide leadership to the Physiotherapy service cross site between OLOLH and LCH and regionally. The team will provide a dynamic rehabilitation focussed, evidence based service and this will require strong leadership to maintain excellent relationships with MDT to ensure practice is developed and taught in line with emerging evidence. The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist will take a lead role in the provision and development of the Pelvic Health service and in particular in the education and training of staff in order to ensure that patients receive a safe, high quality evidence based physiotherapy service in OLOLH/LCH and regionally. The Pelvic Health physiotherapy team presently consists of 2 WTE Clinical Specialist physiotherapists, 2 WTE Senior physiotherapists and a 0.5 WTE Staff Grade Physiotherapist. The team provides a dynamic rehabilitation focussed, evidence based cross-site service and requires strong leadership to maintain excellent relationships with MDT and to ensure practice is developed and taught in line with emerging evidence. An out of hour's respiratory on-call/ emergency service and weekend Orthopaedic/ Respiratory service is provided and the post-holder will be expected to work on this service. Essential Criteria Candidates for appointment must: Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc. Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition have the following: (i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. If you are a section 91 candidate, please see note * And (ii) Have five years full time (or an aggregate of five years) post registration qualification experience. Of which four years full time (or an aggregate of four years) post registration qualification clinical experience must be in the required area of Specialism And (iii) Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence in the specialism. And (iv) Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism, in the form of post-graduate qualifications or relevant courses. And (v) Candidates must demonstrate achievement in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research. And (vi) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued. Annual registration (i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. AND (ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC). Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Character Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character. Note* Individuals who qualified before 30th September 2018 and are registered or have applied for registration under Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act, 2005, must hold a Physiotherapy qualification approved by CORU in order to be eligible to apply. The list of approved qualifications under the Section 91 route can be accessed on the attached link: Section 91 candidates are individuals who qualified before 30th September 2018 and have been engaged in the practice of the profession in the Republic of Ireland for a minimum of 2 years fulltime (or an aggregate of 2 years fulltime), between 1st October 2016 and 30th September 2018 are considered to be Section 91 applicants under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act, 2005 Post Specific: Candidate must demonstrate sufficient depth & breadth of Pelvic Health physiotherapy experience relevant to the role. Candidate must have demonstrated formal CPD activity relevant to the clinical area of Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.
