Opportunity for a Mechanical Supervisor to join our Life Science team in Cork. The Mechanical Supervisor will report to the Mep Supervisor and will oversee and participate in the planning, execution, and evaluation of mechanical walkdown activities on various projects. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and project timelines while leading a team of technicians and contractors, and pharmaceutical experience.
Responsibilities
Maintain full familiarity with the contract scope and associated project specifications.
Oversee daily site activities of contractors, ensuring delivery in line with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
Stay informed on planned works, methodologies, and resource allocations.
Provide progress updates and flag issues to the MEP Lead and Mechanical Lead.
Work closely with CMT personnel to coordinate contractor interfaces (co-activity) and keep all stakeholders fully informed.
Attend daily planning meetings at the workface (“Whiteboard meetings”).
Monitor contractors’ adherence to ITPs and quality plans.
Report quality issues to the Quality, MEP, and Mechanical Lead.
Perform daily inspections to verify compliance with required standards.
Witness tests and inspections as defined in the ITP.
Notify the Mechanical Lead of any potential deviations from IFC documentation and ensure only approved changes are implemented.
Ensure a First of Kind (FOK) register is in place, approved and is being adhered to.
Collaborate with the Turnover Manager to review and approve test packs.
Provide accurate updates to the Mechanical Lead for status reporting.
Participate in system walkdowns, punch-list management, construction close-out, and system turnover to the client and/or C&Q team.
Review contractors’ red-line markups for completeness and accuracy.
Maintain project documentation in line with filing requirements.
Ensure construction IFCs are red-lined to reflect progress and installation accuracy.
Drive timely resolution and closure of punch lists.
Experience
Experience in walkdowns, inspections, or a similar role. Experience in mechanical systems and Pharmaceutical projects.
Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in using inspection tools and software.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., construction sites, industrial facilities).
Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Mechanical Supervisor working on large-scale construction projects and with multi-disciplinary teams.
Proven track record working on construction projects within specialized industrial sectors (e.g., Life Sciences, Bio-Pharma, Mission Critical).
Strong background in promoting and upholding exemplary health and safety standards on major projects.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with Digital Project Delivery is desirable.
