Our team includes psychologists, assistant psychologists, psychotherapists, speech and language therapist, and occupational therapist. We pride ourselves on providing affirming, evidence-based psychological support that recognises and celebrates neurodiversity.The RoleWe are seeking an experienced and highly qualified psychotherapist to join our team on a contract basis. This role is dedicated to providing therapeutic support to neurodivergent children and adolescents, including those with ADHD, who are Autistic and other neurodevelopmental differences.The successful candidate will work collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, neurodiversity-affirming therapy that empowers young clients to thrive.Essential RequirementsQualifications & AccreditationAccreditation with a recognised psychotherapy body (e.g., IACP, ICP, IAHIP, or equivalent)Current professional indemnity insuranceEligible for Garda vettingExperience & Training (Essential - Non-Negotiable)Extensive experience working therapeutically with neurodivergent children and adolescentsFormal training in neurodivergence and neurodevelopmental conditions (evidence of CPD, specialist courses, or postgraduate qualifications required)Demonstrated understanding of neurodiversity-affirming practiceExperience adapting therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of neurodivergent young peoplePlease note: Applications from therapists without formal training and substantial experience in working with neurodivergent populations will not be considered.Skills & AttributesStrong understanding of Autism, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental profiles in children and adolescentsAbility to work with diverse presentations, including co-occurring mental health conditionsExcellent communication skills with young people and their familiesAbility to adapt communication styles to suit developmental levelsCommitment to ongoing professional development in neurodiversityCollaborative approach and ability to work within a multidisciplinary teamFlexibility and creativity in therapeutic deliveryWorking ArrangementsAbility to provide both in-person and online therapy (in-person delivery preferred as primary mode)Comfortable working with children, adolescents, and their families/systemsDesirable ExperienceExperience with PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profileKnowledge of sensory processing differences and trauma-informed approachesExperience working with schools and educational settingsPlay-based or creative therapeutic approachesKey ResponsibilitiesProvide individual psychotherapy to neurodivergent children and adolescents (approximately 10-12 clients per week)Develop and implement personalised, neurodiversity-affirming treatment plansMaintain accurate and timely clinical notes (prompt documentation required)Attend mandatory peer supervision sessionsAttend individual supervision with a senior staff memberParticipate in regular MDT meetingsLiaise with families, schools, and other professionals as necessary/requiredWork collaboratively with the system around the client when appropriateEngage in ongoing professional development related to neurodiversityContract TermsContract Type: Self-employed contractorHours: Flexible (approximately 10-12 client contact hours per week)Rate: Commensurate with level of experienceProbation Period: 3-month initial probationary periodTherapeutic Approach: Open to all modalities - neurodiversity-affirming practice is essentialPre-Employment RequirementsGarda vetting (mandatory)Two professional referencesProof of current professional indemnity insuranceEvidence of accreditation with recognised psychotherapy bodyEvidence of specialist training in neurodivergenceHow to ApplyPlease submit the following to Current CV including details of your neurodivergence-specific training and experienceCover letter outlining your approach to neurodiversity-affirming practice with children/adolescents (max 1 page)Evidence of relevant training/qualifications in working with neurodivergent populationsFor informal inquiries, please contact Dr Jessica McKnight at Diverse Minds Practice is an equal opportunities employer.
