Purpose of the Job:
The Process Manager will be responsible for ensuring adherence to health and safety rules and regulations within the plant.
The Process Manager will report any current or potential hazards to their immediate manager immediately.
The Process Manager will consult standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all tasks and ensure they fully understand and adhere to them.
Housing and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) are critical elements of our business and the Process Engineering Manager will ensure that all craftsmen and contractors observe and carry out associated requirements appropriately.
The Process Manager will help establish departmental goals, schedules, and timetables for activities with Operations, Engineering, and Environmental Health and Safety Managers.
The Process Manager will maintain open communication with other departments.
The Process Manager will plan and schedule work in accordance with plant demand and available manpower.
The Process Manager will ensure compliance with Abbott International Global Standards, GMP, and environmental requirements.
The Process Manager will promote good employee relations and engagement on site.
The Process Manager will drive a continuous improvement culture through effective root cause analysis and structured problem-solving to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
The Process Manager will deputize for the Operations Manager in their absence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage complex projects in highly regulated quality-controlled food manufacturing environments with specialist evaporation and spray drying equipment for infant formula manufacturing.
* Model manufacturing and automated processes in the process area to maximize understanding within the function.
* Oversee, coach, and develop the technical team within the Value Stream.
* Ensure new equipment validation as per QA procedures.
* Calculate and organize data for complex process flow sheets, including instrumentation and control considerations. Ensure proper sequence of operation and prepare specifications and operating instructions for processing equipment.
* Conduct tests and measurements throughout production stages to determine control over variables such as temperature, density, pressure, and viscosity.
* Service, troubleshoot, and solve engineering problems with processes or equipment via a cross-functional structured problem-solving approach.
* Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
* May be responsible for corrective and preventive actions, and investigation management.
* Develop, communicate, and implement operational plans for completing complex specialist projects in the area.
* Take proactive action to resolve operational problems and minimize downtime.
* Participate in selecting and managing contractor activities to ensure satisfactory standards of service.
Education & Competencies:
* Bachelor's Degree in Food Process Engineering or equivalent discipline.
* Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in Engineering.
* Prior experience in a Dairy/Food Process Engineering role is desirable.
* Knowledge of Spray drying operations and/or Evaporation is desirable.
* Knowledge or experience in Thermal processing of Dairy-based products is desirable.
* Knowledge or experience in Powder conveying systems.
* Knowledge or experience in ATEX rated environments and their constraints.
* Experience in highly Automated Manufacturing Environments with a solid understanding of pharma/food processing equipment is essential.
* The ability to organize, motivate, and understand teams.
* Good mental ability to logically pursue a structured problem-solving approach.
