Overview
The Longford Pizza site is part of the Nomad Foods Group. The business operates two manufacturing sites in Ireland (Naas and Longford), employing approximately 450 FTEs and producing around 50,000 tons of pizzas annually, mainly under the Goodfella’s and San Marco brands. BEP also produces own-label pizza for various retailers in the UK and Ireland.
This role requires a value-driven individual with a proven track record in managing activities within an FMCG environment, utilizing available resources effectively. The candidate should constantly strive to improve standards across processes and personnel, with a strong emphasis on procedural activities and quality integration in operations.
Responsibilities
* Implement and maintain quality management systems to ensure product safety, legality, and specification compliance.
* Drive process optimization to enable all process parts to meet product specifications with minimal operator intervention and zero defects.
* Establish functional KPIs supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement.
* Ensure site cleaning and hygiene standards through scheduled reviews and audits.
* Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Quality System, ensuring compliance with Customer codes of Practices, legislation, and BRC standards.
Manage the Quality Team effectively.
NPD Focus
* Review line trial samples and new Capex or layout plans with Process Technologist, considering customer and legislative requirements.
* Review recipes, HACCP, and QA sheets before launches; participate in launch teams; conduct post-launch reviews.
* Ensure customer audits and requirements are integrated into NPD projects.
Ongoing Plant Focus
* Maintain BRC Grade AA+ standards and ensure compliance with all related standards and customer requirements.
* Manage audits, third-party inspections, and authority requirements.
* Ensure product production aligns with customer specifications; address and communicate customer feedback weekly with trend analysis and improvement plans.
* Review and update QMS annually and ensure HACCP plans are reviewed quarterly and adhered to, preventing recalls or withdrawals.
* Analyze customer complaints, aiming for a 10% reduction annually, and implement corrective actions.
* Promote quality culture and training, targeting GMP scores of 95%.
* Manage hygiene standards, product recalls, cost reduction, and value analysis.
* Enforce quality objectives, promote health and safety, and contribute to KPI reporting and technical planning.
Customer Focus
* Monitor technical KPIs, ensure compliance with policies and standards, and drive quality improvements with retailers.
HR
* Manage quality supervisors, systems coordinators, and technicians.
KPI’s
* Maintain standards such as BRC, retailer standards, legislation compliance, GMP, material variances, product rejection rates, hygiene spend, supplier conformance, budget adherence, and HR and H&S metrics.
Qualifications
Essential
* Management experience in FMCG manufacturing.
* Diploma or equivalent in Science, Technology, Engineering, or related field.
* Minimum 5 years’ management experience in FMCG.
* Effective resource utilization.
* Experience with NPD, production processes, BRC standards, and customer codes.
* Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
* Experience with Lean tools, financial awareness, project management, SAP, process/system development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
