We are working with a leading Irish technology company that designs and manufactures safety-critical electronics products used globally. As part of their continued R&D investment, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Senior Hardware Test & Validation Engineer to support the testing and qualification of complex electronic systems.
This is a key role within a growing engineering division, ideal for someone coming from an electronics engineering background with strong experience in hardware testing, validation planning, and debugging in regulated environments.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Hardware Test & Validation Engineer, you will take ownership of test planning, execution, and documentation for new and existing hardware platforms. You'll collaborate closely with the design, firmware, and compliance teams to ensure products meet quality, performance, and safety standards across a range of wireless and low-power safety devices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, execute, and document comprehensive test plans for hardware validation across various product lines
2. Perform hands-on testing, fault-finding, and root cause analysis on electronic assemblies
3. Define test methodologies, fixtures, and custom test setups for prototype and pre-production units
4. Work closely with design and embedded teams to influence hardware testability and improve product robustness
5. Support regulatory compliance testing (EMC, environmental, functional safety)
6. Drive continuous improvement in validation processes and documentation standards
7. Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and technicians in the test team
Required Experience:
8. 5+ years' experience in hardware test/validation or electronics development
9. Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
10. Strong understanding of analogue/digital circuit design and debugging
11. Experience with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, power supplies,
12. Knowledge of test development for microcontroller-based systems
13. Comfortable working with schematics, layouts, and hardware design documentation
14. Background in regulated industries (medical, automotive, aerospace, safety-critical
Desirable
15. Experience with automated hardware testing or LabVIEW/test scripting
16. Exposure to wireless technologies (BLE, Zigbee, RF)
17. Familiarity with environmental and compliance standards (. IEC, ISO 13485, EMC/EMI testing)
18. Understanding of PCB layout best practices and DFT/DFM principles
