The candidate will work closely with the logistics team, reporting directly to the Managing Director.We believe the successful Logistics Manager should have the following skills:Manager who is skilled in setting clear objectives and motivating their team.Leadership and motivational qualities and proven experience of building a team.Strong attention to detail and accuracy are very importantAbility to think logically and analyticallyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work on your own initiativeProven ability to work collaboratively with other people is essentialExcellent organisational skillsAbility to work to tight deadlinesExperience working for a multi-national, global organisationHigh level of computer literacy, with good working knowledge of current Microsoft applicationsThe key tasks for the Logistics Manager are as follows:Managing the container control team and their performanceMotivate and develop the team through engagement, training, and personal development programReviewing the container control team daily gate moves from/to the depots and terminalsManaging our container stock, ensuring sufficient levels are in place to meet booking requirementsManaging excess equipment, ensuring evacuation out of Ireland in a timely mannerWorking closely with the depots and terminals to ensure we have sufficient space to store our empty container stockLiaising with the local depots, terminals, and hauliers ensuring the correct allocation and return of our empty containersDevelop and maintain ongoing relationships with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.Reporting and forecasting stock levels locally and to head officeManaging the reefer container and special equipment processManaging repairs and empty stock in conjunction with the centralised MSC teamEnsuring the smooth running of all EDI exchanges with the depots and terminals pertinent to our empty container stockOversee the sale of empty containers locallyWork closely with our team members in our Cork and Belfast offices as oversightMonitoring costs (invoices)Answering customers' queries.Work closely with the container control team to ensure "end-to-end" co-operation within the Logistics Department and all other relevant departmentsAnalysing company processes and procedures ensuring best practiceDeveloping process enhancement strategies and further advance our EDI solutions where applicableManage the negotiation of rates and terms with the local depots in liaison with the Managing DirectorAd-hoc duties as required by the Managing DirectorEssential Criteria:Minimum five years' experience managing empty container stock within the shipping or related logistics industry.Full clean EU driving license.A bachelor's degree or higher in a business-related discipline is desirable.What can you expect from MSC?Competitive salaryFull training in the roleSupportive environmentPension - 8% of base salary (after 6 month probationary period)Health Insurance (after 6 month probationary period)Access to in-house and relevant external trainingAccess to an Employee Assistance Programme21 days annual leave initially, rising to a maximum of 25 days.
