EHS Officer
Our Dublin based client are currently recruiting for an EHS Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. As EHS Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the ongoing implementation, development, and continuous improvement of its Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Management Systems. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and fostering a strong safety culture across all business units. This role will be on site 5 days per week. Travel to other sites will be required so you must have your own car and full driver’s licence.
Responsibilities
Safety Management System (SMS):
Support the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the company’s Safety Management System
Periodically review and update safety policies, the Safety Statement, and other documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with operational changes
Maintain the EHS legal register and stay current with evolving regulations and best practice standards
Lead and conduct internal safety audits and inspections; support external audit processes
Manage and maintain the risk assessment programme across departments
Investigate incidents and near misses, facilitate root cause analysis, and ensure timely closure of corrective actions
Promote and uphold a proactive safety culture throughout the organization
Track, analyze, and report on EHS performance metrics to senior management
Contribute to EHS performance reviews and ongoing improvement initiatives
Chemical Safety & Compliance:
Provide expert guidance on chemical legislation compliance, including but not limited to:
Chemical Agents Regulations
COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards)
REACH, CLP, and ADR
Maintain and manage the master file of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous materials
Lead the EHS risk evaluation process for new product or chemical introductions
Conduct chemical hazard risk assessments relating to handling, equipment, and storage
Support the organization in meeting COMAH obligations, including compliance monitoring and reporting
General Support & Coordination:
Assist in the coordination of EHS administrative tasks across departments
Ensure documentation, communication, and procedural updates are maintained effectively
Requirements
Essential:
Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
3+ years of experience in a similar EHS role, ideally within chemical manufacturing or a high‑compliance environment
Strong knowledge of EHS legislation and best practices
Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
Familiarity with chemical safety regulations and documentation, including SDS, REACH, and COMAH
Desirable:
Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or equivalent management systems
Excellent organizational, communication, and report‑writing skills
Ability to work cross‑functionally with teams in operations, quality, and compliance
