What you will be doing
As a Student SecOps Analyst, you will:
* Assist with monitoring security alerts from HEAnet's security platforms.
* Support the investigation of incidents, helping to collect evidence and document findings.
* Contribute to threat intelligence by researching current cyber threats and summarising them for the team and clients.
* Carry out IOC (Indicator of Compromise) lookups and basic threat-hunting tasks under guidance.

What you will learn
* Hands-on experience with security tools and platforms.
* Exposure to real-world security incidents and response processes.
* Guidance on cybersecurity best practices, frameworks, and threat intelligence.
* Communicating technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What we are looking for
* A strong interest in cybersecurity and threat analysis.
* Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity and IT concepts, including threats, vulnerabilities, attack methods, networks, and systems, gained from your coursework.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Research and investigation mindset: interested in exploring security issues and emerging threats.
* Good written and verbal communication.
* Eagerness to learn and contribute as part of a collaborative team.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in security operations, learn from experts in the field, and work on real challenges facing the education and research community.
