Brothers Of Charity Services Ireland – West RegionPERMANENT FULL-TIME CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST/CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST CANDIDATE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORTADULT WEST SERVICES, GALWAYJOB REF: 91220A panel maybe formed from this competition from which subsequent CNS positions for the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – West Region may be filled within the next 6 months.Location:Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – West Region. The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland West Region offer services to people with an intellectual disability in Galway City and County, and Roscommon.We work to form genuine relationships and partnerships with each person we support and those closest to them. We aim to support people to participate in the everyday life of their community, to have ordinary life experiences, and to create opportunities for the people we support to form real friendships.The Role:To support adults in the West Sector, and on specific referrals, adults in the East Sector and Children Sector, with an intellectual disability who present with behaviours that challenge in order to assist them to cope with and change the conditions that influence and maintain their behaviour. This is so that they themselves and those who share their lives will have an improved quality of life and that the individual will be able to move further towards achieving their desired personal outcomes.This aim will be achieved through assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of specialised interventions and by adhering to the five core concepts of the CNS role, set out in the framework for the establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist Posts, 4thedition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008.The successful candidate will work as a key member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team providing, through collaboration and the nursing process, comprehensive integrated documented supports in respect of the individual, for the family, frontline staff and wider multi-disciplinary team, to achieve this aim.The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a peripatetic type service with other colleagues. This specialist practice will encompass a major clinical focus, comprising assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating supports agreed for those we support.While having significant office-based time, all observations and the implementation of interventions will be carried out where the person supported lives or works. This may involve some late evening and weekend work depending on service need.Where required, the successful candidate will engage in individual sessional work with the individual in their office via an appointment system.Reporting Relationship:Professional Accountability to Adult West Sector Manager through identified local Area Managers.Location:The post will be based in the West SectorQualifications/Experience/Skills:The successful candidate must:Be a Registered Nurse preferably Intellectual Disability (RNID) on the live Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Áltranais agus Cnáimhseachais Na hÉireann (NMBI)Hold a level 9 (or higher) post registration qualification relevant to Behaviour Support.Applicable to CNS/ CNS Candidate applicants: For Nurses who express an interest in CNS roles and who currently hold a level 8 educational qualification in Behaviour Support, (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), this qualification will be recognised up to September 2026.A minimum of 1 years' experience in practice and a minimum of 1 years' experience in Behaviour Support. The candidate will be supported to progress on a candidate CNS Pathway, to be achieved within 2 years.Hold at least 5 years post registration experience supporting adults with an intellectual disability.Have a minimum of three years working with people who present with behaviours that challenge.Be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support framework and have the ability to pragmatically demonstrate this.Candidates must have a current full clean manual driving licence as this is an essential requirement of the post.Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.An adequate level of IT skills are essential.Working Hours:75 hours a fortnight based on a 5 day week duty roster. Contracted hours of work may change between the hours of 8am - 8pm to meet Service needs, including weekends and public holidays, as service need requires.The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.Annual Leave:25 days per annum. Service related leave - 1 day is granted after 5 years nursing service and a further 2 days after 10 years nursing service.Remuneration:Department of Health Clinical Nurse Specialist salary scale01/08/2025- €61,463 x 9 increments - €75,405 (Max) per annum. Long Service Increment €77,666 is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.Department of Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate salary scale01/08/2025- €56,642 x7 increments – €66,705 (max) per annum.Tenure:This post is permanent full-time and pensionable(subject to meeting the qualification essential criteria as listed under qualifications/experience above).Probation:A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. Employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment.
