Position Overview
The Quality Assistant Manager will play a crucial role within our manufacturing facility, dedicated to producing high-quality complementary feed products for animals. This position is responsible for supporting and enhancing the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Systems Management (QSM) functions, ensuring that all products and processes meet or exceed customer expectations, regulatory compliance, and legislative standards. A focus on driving continuous improvements in product quality and operational excellence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
· Quality Assurance Compliance: Ensure all QA and QSM activities are fully compliant with customer specifications, regulatory frameworks, legislative obligations, and internal business requirements. Monitor evolving regulations and ensure timely implementation of necessary changes.
· Continuous Improvement: Develop, plan, and execute initiatives aimed at ongoing enhancement of product quality and the effectiveness of QA and QSM processes. Utilize data-driven analysis to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
· Documentation and Records Management: Oversee the creation, maintenance, and review of all quality-related documentation, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and adherence to internal and external standards.
· Internal and External Audits: Prepare for, participate in, and support regular internal and external audits. Follow up on findings to ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively and in a timely manner.
· Supplier Quality: Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure that all raw materials and components sourced meet set quality standards. Assist in evaluating and auditing suppliers as required.
· Training and Development: Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support to staff regarding QA and QSM best practices, procedures, and requirements. Foster a culture of quality and accountability throughout the organisation.
· Customer Communication: Act as a point of contact for customer queries related to product quality, certifications, or compliance. Cooperate with sales and technical support teams to resolve customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
· Incident Management: Participate in the investigation of product or process deviations, non-conformances, and complaints. Ensure that root cause analyses are conducted and that corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
· Reporting: Prepare regular reports and metrics on key quality indicators, audit findings, and improvement projects for management review.
Qualifications and Experience
· A Bachelor's degree or a minimum of a higher certificate in a relevant discipline (such as food, feed, or quality management) is preferred.
· Previous experience in a quality assurance or quality systems management role, ideally within animal feed, food production, or related manufacturing sectors.
· Understanding of regulatory and legislative frameworks governing animal feed production (e.g., GMP+, HACCP or equivalent).
· Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (such as Six Sigma or Lean).
· Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and written/verbal communication abilities.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
· Proficiency in MS Office and experience with quality management systems/software.
