This role spans the complete project lifecycle—from concept and grid study coordination through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover—ensuring full compliance with EirGrid/ESB Networks requirements and Irish grid code standards.
You will manage the execution of turnkey AIS/GIS substation projects (typically 38kV–220kV), supporting grid integration for renewable energy, industrial, and utility-scale infrastructure projects.
Project Execution
Lead the full delivery of HV substation projects across Ireland, from design through to commissioning and energisation. Ensure alignment with technical specifications, programme requirements, commercial contracts, and grid connection agreements.
Grid Compliance & Stakeholder Interface
Lead technical engagement with EirGrid, ESB Networks, and local authorities throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure compliance with Irish Grid Code, including requirements related to RoCoF, fault ride-through, and reactive power capabilities.
Procurement & Technical Evaluation
Oversee the procurement of HV equipment (power transformers, switchgear, protection relays, control panels, etc.), ensuring technical compliance, quality assurance, and integration with design intent. Review FAT documentation and coordinate supplier deliverables.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
Lead the planning and execution of protection testing, SCADA integration (IEC 60870/61850), and final system commissioning. Ensure timely submission of as-built documentation, test records, and compliance certificates to support project handover.
Change, Risk & Cost Control
Proactively manage technical risks, scope changes, and contractual variations. Support cost forecasting, programme control, and claims management in close collaboration with commercial and planning teams.
Client and Stakeholder Reporting
Serve as the key point of contact for clients, consultants, DNO/TSO representatives, and internal teams. Provide structured reporting, risk updates, and technical coordination across all phases of delivery.
HSE
Ensure the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
