Job Title: Director of Nursing
Job Description:
* Ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing and social care that meets individual resident needs through implementation of our Quality of Care System.
* Monitor clinical practice to ensure adherence to Regulations & Standards, and conduct internal audits to identify areas for improvement.
* Provide initial induction and ongoing training and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
* Encourage innovative practice and ensure implementation and adherence to Company and HIQA standards, procedures, and guidelines.
Financial Administration Responsibilities:
* Maintain administrative procedures in the absence of the Administrator.
* Monitor administrative procedures and have knowledge of residents' fee income, funding sources, fee arrears, personal allowances, and financial records.
General Management:
* Conduct regular communication meetings with all clinical staff to maintain open lines of communication and address any concerns or issues.
* Establish a good rapport with external community agencies and bring the local community into the Home to facilitate residents' participation in activities and functions.
* Liaise with Marketing to maximize opportunities and ensure the Home has a high profile in the local community.
* Monitor all complaints to ensure they are documented, investigated, and resolved in a timely manner.
Environment:
* Implement Company Health and Safety Policy to safeguard the safety and welfare of staff, residents, and others.
* Ensure catering meets HACCP standards and is of the highest quality and variety.
* Implement regular fire training and evacuation plans to ensure compliance with regulations.
* Ensure the hygiene and cleanliness of the home meet the highest standards.
Human Resources Function:
* Participate in the selection and interviewing of staff to ensure the best candidates are appointed.
* Conduct regular training needs analysis to identify areas where staff require additional training or development.
* Ensure HR practices within the Home comply with current employment legislation regarding clinical matters.
* Ensure all registered nurses employed in the Home are on the 'live' Register.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes Required:
* Qualified RGN with at least 3 years' experience in the last 6 years in the care of older people.
* Post-registration management qualification in health or a related field.
* No less than 3 years' experience in a management capacity in the health and social care area.
* Registered on the appropriate part of the NMBI live register.
* Proven track record in healthcare clinical management.
* Excellent Leadership, Organizational, and Communication skills.
* Sound decision-making ability and results-driven approach.
* Good appreciation of finance issues.
* Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative.
* Ability to work well and promote a team environment.
* Willingness to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the organization.
* Deep knowledge of HIQA regulations and compliance standards.
