About the Role
The Director of Industrial Prefabrication will lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative industrial modular solutions for the construction sector, with a strong focus on data centres and mission‑critical environments. This strategic leadership role involves driving new product development, establishing best‑in‑class manufacturing processes, and ensuring alignment with global standards and evolving industry demands.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish and scale offsite construction capabilities, including third‑party partnerships and internal production development.
* Evaluate and select optimal modular construction sites across Europe considering technical, economic, and logistical factors.
* Lead site assessments, surveys, and liaison with property stakeholders regarding suitability for modular production and distribution.
* Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, and risk‑mitigation strategies.
* Oversee adherence to regulatory, safety, compliance, and quality requirements, including external audits.
* Conduct performance reviews across all modular construction phases to ensure quality and safety compliance.
* Ensure all projects meet relevant local regulations, health and safety standards, and sustainability guidelines.
* Undertake risk assessments and develop contingency plans for production and logistical challenges.
* Identify process‑improvement opportunities to optimise manufacturing, assembly, and deployment.
* Collaborate with global teams to define and execute strategic modular construction initiatives within the data‑centre sector.
* Partner with engineering and R&D in designing new modular products, including emerging technologies such as liquid‑cooling solutions.
* Work directly with industrial customers to align product design with operational and manufacturing requirements.
* Engage with key stakeholders—end users, owners, engineers, contractors—to understand requirements and deliver customised solutions.
* Monitor industry trends, technological advances, and regulatory developments to inform product strategy.
* Support pre‑construction activities and present modular solutions using design‑assist and design‑build methodologies.
* Assist procurement in developing supply chain capability, including integration of third‑party components.
* Benchmark global standards and apply best practices to maintain competitive advantage.
* Identify and integrate additional product sets into modular designs.
* Collaborate with logistics, estimating, and project management teams during tendering and execution.
* Oversee conceptual and visual design development using advanced tools to produce high‑quality presentations and prototypes.
* Work with manufacturing teams to ensure cost‑effective, scalable, and manufacturable modular designs.
* Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources for efficient delivery of data‑centre modular solutions.
* Build, mentor, and lead the prefabrication team, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
* Support expansion of modular product offerings into new market sectors.
* Undertake additional duties as required.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Design, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
Experience
:
* Minimum 10 years' experience in modular design, engineering, or product development.
* Proven leadership in cross‑functional environments and delivery of complex technical projects.
* Strong understanding of data‑centre infrastructure, containment systems, and modular construction solutions.
Skills
:
* Advanced knowledge of sustainability‑focused design and energy‑efficient engineering.
* Proficiency with CAD and product‑development software.
* Expertise in building systems, structural design, and thermal management.
* Understanding of global standards related to cooling, power, network infrastructure, and data‑centre design.
