Monitoring Swimmers:
Job Summary:
Assist in the day-to-day running and supervision of the pool, ensuring that our guests and members needs are met and they are provided with exceptional customer service at all times.
Lifeguard Responsibilities:
* Continuously observe swimmers to ensure safety and prevent accidents.
* Watch for signs of distress, fatigue, or any risky behavior in or around the water.
Responding to Emergencies:
* Be ready to perform rescues in case of drowning, near-drowning, or other aquatic emergencies.
* Administer first aid, CPR, and other lifesaving techniques when necessary.
Enforcing Pool Rules:
* Ensure that all pool rules are followed to prevent accidents or injuries.
* Enforce policies on appropriate behavior, such as no running, no diving in shallow areas, or no swimming under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Safety Inspections:
* Regularly check the condition of pool equipment, pool area, and water quality.
* Report any hazards such as broken tiles, malfunctioning drains, or unsafe conditions.
Maintaining Equipment:
* Keep lifesaving equipment (buoys, rescue poles, first aid kits) in good working condition and easily accessible.
Educating Swimmers:
* Provide basic safety information to swimmers, such as safe entry/exit procedures.
Record-Keeping:
* Maintain logs of incidents, rescues, and any injuries that occur during work shifts.
* Keep track of maintenance schedules and emergency drills.
Teamwork:
* Work collaboratively with other lifeguards and staff to ensure the safety of all patrons.
* Participate in drills and training sessions to maintain readiness for emergencies.
Swimming Instructor Responsibilities
Teaching Swimming Techniques:
* Provide lessons to individuals or groups to teach various swimming strokes (e.g., frontstroke, backstroke, breaststroke).
* Tailor lessons to the skill levels and needs of students, ranging from beginners to advanced swimmers.
Water Safety Education:
* Teach students about water safety and basic lifesaving skills.
* Instruct on how to handle different aquatic situations, like how to float, breathe properly, or safely enter the water.
Progress Assessment:
* Monitor and assess students' progress in learning swimming techniques.
* Provide feedback and encouragement to help them improve.
Developing Lesson Plans:
* Plan and organize structured lesson plans based on the students' abilities and learning goals.
* Modify lesson plans based on individual or group needs, ensuring that everyone is engaged.
Ensuring Student Safety:
* Keep a close watch on students during lessons to ensure their safety, especially in deeper water.
* Be prepared to intervene in case of an emergency or when students are struggling.
Providing Support to Special Needs:
* Adapt lessons for individuals with disabilities or those who need additional assistance.
* Use specialized teaching methods and equipment if necessary.
Motivating Students:
* Help students build confidence in the water through positive reinforcement.
* Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
Record-Keeping:
* Track student progress, attendance, and lesson completion.
* Communicate with parents or guardians about progress or areas of concern.
Maintaining Equipment:
* Ensure that all teaching materials, such as pool noodles, kickboards, and flotation devices, are in good condition and accessible.
Teamwork:
* Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge.
* Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of The Leisure centre.

* Advanced/Higher Certificate (required)
