Senior Manager Job Description
The Senior Manager will oversee school transport services across the Southern Region, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of bus services.
* Coordinate with the Department of Education & Youth to implement policy recommendations.
* Plan and schedule resources, as well as recruit school bus drivers.
* Oversee training, vetting, and record-keeping for drivers and contractors.
* Manage contractor relationships and verify documentation.
Maintaining high standards and applying HR policies consistently is essential. The role also involves conducting ongoing reviews of the School Transport Network and ensuring compliance with scheme rules.
Key Responsibilities:
* Engage with stakeholders to promote a safe and efficient service.
* Maintain oversight and controls.
* Assist with the digital transformation of school transport operations.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have previous management experience, particularly within the transport industry and people management.
Knowledge of legislation related to road passenger transport and the School Transport Scheme is also required, as well as proficiency in working with IT systems such as SAP and Business Warehouse.
Familiarity with route planning and vehicle scheduling, staff supervision and direction, and knowledge of the procurement process for school transport contractors are advantageous.
