Deli Assistant

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Deli Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, and possess a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Main Responsibilities:

* Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner, ensuring their needs are met promptly and professionally.
* Communicate effectively with customers, responding to their queries and concerns in a courteous and knowledgeable manner.
* Maintain knowledge of current deli products, promotions, and pricing, making recommendations to customers as needed.
* Ensure products are served in line with Food Hygiene Requirements, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
* Assist customers with queries regarding deli products, providing detailed information on ingredients, nutritional content, and allergens.
* Maintain awareness of current in-store sales and promotions, promoting these to customers where appropriate.
* Deal with customer complaints in a professional and pleasant way, escalating issues to the Store Manager where necessary.
* Clean shelves, counters, and floors, maintaining a clean and tidy store environment at all times.
* Conduct regular stock checks, reporting any discrepancies or issues to the Assistant Store Manager/Store Manager.
* Update shelf edge labels as instructed by the Assistant Store Manager, ensuring accurate and up-to-date product information is displayed.
* Rotate stock effectively, minimizing waste and optimizing inventory levels.
* Monitor Critical Control Points, ensuring food is handled and stored safely to prevent contamination.
* Adhere to HACCP regulations, maintaining accurate records and reporting any incidents or near misses to the Assistant Store Manager/Store Manager.

* Able to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues to achieve business objectives.
* Initiative and self-motivation, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
* Sound judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and issues effectively.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced retail environment, interacting with customers, staff, and management at all levels. A valid Food Hygiene Certificate is required, and the ability to lift heavy items (up to 25kg) may be necessary. Regular breaks and training opportunities will be provided to support your development and well-being.
