The
Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS)
is recruiting a
Medical Scientist
to join our
Red Cell Immunohaematology Laboratory
at the National Blood Centre.
About the Role
The RCI Laboratory delivers a
24/7 specialist red cell serology referral service
supporting
56 hospitals nationwide
. You'll be part of a highly skilled team providing essential pre-transfusion and antenatal testing that directly impacts patient care across Ireland.
What You'll Do
* Contribute to a high-quality medical laboratory service supporting clinical needs
* Work as part of an expert multidisciplinary team
* Deliver efficient and accurate immunohaematology services in line with laboratory procedures
* Participate in a specialist national referral service
Essential Criteria
* Recognised degree in Medical Science
* Full (or eligible) membership of
ACSLM
and
CORU registration
* Experience in blood transfusion
* Strong communication & teamwork skills
* Flexible, adaptable, and motivated approach
* Good computer skills
Desirable (Training Provided)
* Experience in complex red cell serology
* GMP / GLP laboratory experience
* Knowledge of
ISO 15189
* Problem-solving and decision-making skills
* Out-of-hours laboratory experience
Salary
€44,331 – €73,667 (incl. LSI)
pro rata
Entry point depends on relevant experience
