Community Development Officer
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Community Development Officer to join our team in Cork, Ireland.
* Design and deliver integrated supports to clients across rural development initiatives, projects, and programs.
* Drive innovative community development and diversification through capacity building, lifelong learning, health, and wellbeing opportunities.
* Build the capacity of local community groups, focusing on integration and inclusion of disadvantaged and marginalised members.
* Develop health-focused initiatives in partnership with local communities, organisations, and stakeholders.
* Support people distanced from the labour market to access employment opportunities.
* Provide technical support and mentorship to local groups to maximise benefits from LEADER, SICAP, and other local development programmes.
* Lead outreach activities to support communities and clients accessing relevant activities and initiatives.
* Initiate and support community-led initiatives in community development, health awareness, environment, employment creation, enterprise, and social enterprise development.
* Develop and drive strategic collaborative partnerships and networks focused on social inclusion, health, environmental, and economic development needs.
* Work collaboratively with agencies, service providers, and local communities to promote health and wellbeing.
* Develop and implement community outreach programmes for suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and education.
* Support communities in participative socio-environmental-economic planning processes.
* Identify and develop creative responses to gaps in supports, skills, and services within the Ballyhoura area.
* Support clients in preparing grant aid applications and develop skills and capacity within community organisations.
* Empower clients to participate effectively in decision-making structures and achieve programme indicators.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience in community development and project management.
* Strong understanding of rural development initiatives and their impact on local communities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work effectively in a team and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
* Familiarity with LEADER, SICAP, and other local development programmes.
