What is a Senior Solution Engineer?
Also known as a "Pre-Sales Engineer", "Solution Consultant" or "Sales Consultant," the Solution Engineer is responsible for understanding a client’s business challenge and presenting technology solutions to evoke confidence in a company’s technology infrastructure, and to remove all technical objections in the sales cycle. To accomplish this, the Solution Engineer must have a strong desire to demonstrate their technical and/or sales skills, including the ability to solicit business requirements, develop a technical sales strategy, configure and effectively demonstrate the solutions that address these requirements and provide business value.
Typical Day of a Solution Engineer:
* Facilitate outcome-focused dialogue to understand and define a customer’s business strategic objectives by conducting discovery calls and process-based discovery workshops
* Partner with prospects/customers to develop a vision for their future on the Salesforce platform, developing a roadmap for both short and long term goals
* Make that vision come to life by configuring and communicating the art of the possible on our platform through a solution demonstration
* Establish and share a point of view on business value provided by the solution with potential customers
* Participate in trainings and certifications to acquire and maintain skills
* Produce deliverables to support the end to end sales cycle including RFPs, micro sites and other outputs
* Collaborate with product and enablement teams to provide feedback from the field and drive solution growth
Requirements:
* Strong verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
* Strong problem solving skills
* Ability to understand customer's business goals and map those to the right technology solutions
* Ability to collaborate as part of a team to take on business and technical problems
* Passion and energy for technology and a desire to learn
* Knowledge of related applications, relational database and web technology
* Solid oral, written, presentation, collaboration and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to work as part of a team to solve technical problems in varied political environments
Additional Preferred Requirements:
* Solution Engineer / pre-sales experience
* Experience implementing Salesforce, CRM, or equivalent solutions
* Experience in a technical, customer-facing role
* Project Management skills
* Experience with Salesforce, including product certifications
* Experience working for or with Financial Services organisations
