Job Description
The Electrical Engineering Officer (ELO) plays a critical role in the Naval Service, responsible for the design, procurement, installation and maintenance of a wide range of systems within the fleet. These systems include power generation and distribution, navigation systems, communication systems, weapons systems, environmental systems, and the Naval Service IT infrastructure.
ELOs are key members of the ships' engineering department during sea postings, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. They are also responsible for leadership and management tasks, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications
1. Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of the Irish State or have a legal entitlement to reside and work in Ireland for the duration of their appointment.
2. Age: Candidates must be under 50 years old on December 31st in the year of application.
3. Education: A recognized Bachelor's Degree (Honours) at level 8 or higher in Electrical or Electronic Engineering is required. Alternatively, a qualification deemed equivalent by the Minister for Defence may be accepted.

Benefits
A competitive basic salary of €57,955 with yearly increments, plus an additional allowance of approximately €20,570 per annum. This allowance starts at €15,000 per annum, tax-free. Additionally, candidates will have access to internal training courses and funded Continual Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.
