Reporting to the Manager, Professional Services (Subsea Engineering), you will work closely with cross-functional teams and customers to ensure seamless installation, upgrade, and testing of Ciena systems, both remotely and onsite.You will:* Implement capacity and technology upgrades for in-service customer networks — including channel adds, node insertions, migrations, and hardware/software upgrades.* Plan, develop, and execute modernization projects through Engineering Methods of Procedure (EMOPs), ensuring service continuity.* Create and maintain detailed design and test documentation, including low-level design (LLD), EMOPs, and Acceptance Test Plans (ATPs).* Validate and oversee implementation activities to ensure network stability and design compliance during maintenance windows.* Lead or support user acceptance testing (UAT), software validation, and interoperability testing as part of customer-funded projects.* Develop automation scripts and testing templates; conduct internal and customer workshops to share best practices.**The Must Haves*** Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.* Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Routing & Switching, preferably combined with expertise in optical or subsea network engineering.* Technical Skills: Strong programming proficiency in Python, C, C++, or JavaScript, along with experience in Linux environments for simulation and automation.* Documentation Expertise: Proven experience in creating engineering documentation (EMOPs, test plans, LLDs) and executing network upgrades or service migrations.* Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, manage timelines, and collaborate effectively in a global team.* Language Skills: Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.**Assets*** Experience with subsea networks or large-scale optical network deployments.* Familiarity with distributed systems and network architecture.* Demonstrated ability to handle maintenance window activities under time pressure.* Strong customer focus with capability to conduct technical workshops or trainings.* Ability to exercise sound judgment, make quick assessments, and resolve complex technical issues.* Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.#LI-SG1Join our to get relevant job alerts straight to your inbox.
