SimoTech Senior PI Engineer
SimoTech is seeking an experienced Senior PI Engineer to support a cutting‑edge pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Tipperary. The role combines technical authority for AVEVA PI Systems with project management responsibilities to lead end‑to‑end digitalisation and data infrastructure projects. You will help shape how manufacturing data is captured, structured and used to drive smarter, data‑driven decisions across operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design, configure, and maintain AVEVA PI system components including PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (AF), PI Vision, and interfaces/connectors.
Develop and optimise data models, AF templates, event frames, and tagging strategies to support analytics and operational visibility.
Implement and maintain RtReports for regulatory, environmental, operational, and batch reporting, including performance optimisation and automation scheduling.
Integrate PI systems with SCADA, PLC/DCS, control systems, historians, and enterprise applications.
Implement data quality monitoring, dashboards, and alerting systems.
Troubleshoot system performance issues, data capture gaps, and event alignment through root cause analysis and remediation.
Ensure system reliability, security compliance, and adherence to industry best practices.
Lead end‑to‑end PI system and digitalisation projects—including scoping, planning, scheduling, risk management, and budget tracking.
Develop and maintain project documentation such as requirements, technical specifications, test plans, and deployment checklists.
Coordinate cross‑functional teams across Operations, IT, Automation, Engineering, and vendors.
Facilitate stakeholder communication, including steering meetings and progress reporting.
Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of services and components.
Collaborate with stakeholders to capture reporting requirements and translate them into compliant RtReports templates.
Develop documentation, runbooks, and training materials for end users on PI tools such as RtReports, PI Vision, and AF.
Support QA, Operations, and Compliance teams in validation activities and audit readiness.
Support development of the site computer systems decommissioning strategy and schedule.
Drive continuous improvements in PI data models, reporting efficiency, system monitoring, and delivery processes.
Deliver dashboards and insights to support data‑driven decision making.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
5+ years of hands‑on experience with AVEVA PI System (PI Data Archive, AF, PI Vision, interfaces/connectors, RT Reports).
Strong understanding of industrial automation systems including PLC, DCS, SCADA, and OPC integration.
