Paving & Walling, Piercetown, Dunboyne, Co. Meath, A86 W820We are seeking an experienced and driven Yard & Fleet Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of products from the yard to customers. This is a key operational leadership role, responsible for managing fleet performance, yard operations, and driver teams while ensuring the highest standards of health & safety and compliance. You will play a critical role in coordinating a mobile workforce, maintaining operational excellence, and ensuring clear communication across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
Champion a strong safety culture across all yard and fleet operations. Ensure compliance with H&S procedures, SOPs, and risk assessments. Lead toolbox talks and safety communications with drivers and mechanics. Manage incidents, accidents, and safety observations through to closure. Maintain high housekeeping standards across the yard and garage.
Yard Operations
Oversee daily yard operations through effective leadership. Drive operational efficiency, performance, and accountability. Ensure plant equipment (forklifts, grabs, etc.) is properly maintained and operational. Manage team performance, including disciplinary matters where required.
Fleet & Garage Management
Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, compliant, and serviced on schedule. Manage preventative maintenance programmes and repair planning. Control and monitor maintenance costs and budgets. Coordinate maintenance schedules with operational teams to minimise disruption. Oversee inspections, audits, and compliance requirements (including CVRT). Lead continuous improvement in fleet reliability and performance.
Driver Management
Provide clear, daily communication on operations, safety, and planning updates. Manage driver schedules, hours, attendance, and holidays. Monitor driver performance, behaviour, and compliance (including tacho regulations). Identify training needs and ensure all drivers remain fully certified. Address performance concerns and drive improvements where necessary.
About You
Proven experience in fleet, transport, or yard management. Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and transport compliance. Experience managing drivers, plant equipment, and operational teams. Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills. Ability to manage budgets and control operational costs. A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
