Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
* Review and understand design specifications, drawings, and project scope to ensure successful project execution.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate and finalize estimates, tender documents, and resourcing tender projects.
* Lead value engineering exercises to optimize mechanical design solutions, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.
* Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
* Prepare sub-contract packages and assess subcontract and supplier tender returns for technical compliance.
* Conduct thorough reviews of construction methodology to identify programme implications and building logistics.
* Investigate tender documentation for commercial risks and scope gaps, providing expert analysis and recommendations.
* Identify and mitigate project risks through effective planning and management.
* Provide mentorship and support to less experienced engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development.
* Evaluate and promote new engineering practices and processes, driving continuous improvement within the organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* At least 7 years of experience in design of Building Services systems and project execution.
* Honours degree (NFQ Level 8) in Mechanical engineering or relevant field.
* Proven ability to lead projects, manage technical and financial aspects, and deliver high-quality mechanical systems.
* Expertise in designing and implementing mechanical systems, including critical cooling, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems supporting the mechanical plant.
* Experience in mentoring junior engineers and fostering collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
* Competence in design software such as Navisworks, Fluid Flow, Pipe-Flo, Fathom, or similar platforms.
