Basic Function and Purpose of this RoleThe Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) is a senior position responsible for orchestrating the successful delivery of digital initiatives across Commercial, Technology, and third‑party software delivery partners. The TDM ensures alignment between business goals, technical feasibility, and delivery execution, bridging the gap between product vision and technical implementation. This role is accountable for end‑to‑end delivery oversight, from backlog refinement through to release and post‑launch support.About The RoleDepartment: TechnologyReports to: Head of IT DevelopmentResponsibilities Of The Job‑HolderCross-Functional OrchestrationFunction as the pivotal point of coordination across Commercial, Technology, and third‑party delivery partners.Ensure clarity and alignment on scope, priorities, and timelines across all stakeholders including other technology managers.Lead and facilitate cross‑functional ceremonies including standups and demos.Commercial StreamSupport the Commercial team in backlog ownership and refinement.Guide the definition of user stories, acceptance criteria, and UX requirements.Ensure business requirements are clearly articulated and traceable through delivery.Keep stakeholders updated on sprint progress, risks, blockers and scope changes.Technology StreamWork closely with technical and infrastructure teams to ensure an oversight of technical design and architecture implications.Review and, where appropriate, challenge technical estimates in a collaborative and constructive manner.Coordinate with infrastructure to ensure environmental readiness for delivery.Work with the test team to ensure quality assurance and sign‑off processes are robust and timely.Third‑Party Delivery Partner StreamCoordinate with third‑party software houses on delivery, QA, and release readiness.Support App Store and Play Store submissions and approvals where applicable.Ensure third‑party deliverables align with internal standards, timelines, and compliance requirements.Build strong working relationships with software delivery partners while maintaining accountability for delivery outcomes.QualificationsA third‑level qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.Relevant ExperienceApprox. 10 years’ experience of which c.3–5 years of hands‑on software development experience, ideally in web or mobile environments and c.3–5 years in technical leadership or delivery management role.3+ years experience leading an agile software development team in a regulated environment.Proven experience managing third‑party software delivery partners, with the ability to balance collaboration and accountability.Familiarity with mobile and webapp delivery pipelines and app store processes is advantageous.Technical SkillsSolid foundation in software engineering, with prior experience as a developer using modern programming languages and frameworks.Deep understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile and Waterfall methodologies.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and deployment automation.Proficient in backlog management and delivery tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).Ability to interpret technical designs, assess architectural impacts, and guide solution design.Comfortable managing third‑party software vendors and delivery teams, ensuring alignment with internal standards and timelines.Skilled in reviewing and constructively challenging technical estimates and delivery plans.Familiarity with infrastructure and environment management, including cloud‑based environments.Comfortable engaging in technical discussions with architects, developers, and QA engineers.Key CompetenciesExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Strategic thinker capable of seeing the big picture of roadmap delivery.Strong organisational and planning abilities.Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive accountability.Analytical mindset with attention to detail.Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.What You Bring~10 years’ experience, including 3–5 years in software development and 3–5 years in technical leadership or delivery management.Experience leading Agile teams in a regulated environment.Strong background in SDLC, Agile, CI/CD, Git, and delivery tools (Jira/Azure DevOps).Ability to engage confidently with developers, architects, QA, and vendors.Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
